U SPORTS/CIS Players who have left Canada to USA?

Post by mr.hoops »

Malcolm Christie, formerly of the Dalhousie Tigers, has been poached by the Oakland Golden Grizzlies of the Horizon League (NCAA) for the 2024-25 season. Some will likely be familiar with the Oakland program as the Golden Bears defeated Kentucky in the opening round of this year's tournament. The Golden Grizzlies' hero of the game, Jack Gohlke, will be remembered for years to come, but has graduated with Christie being slotted in as his replacement.

Christie is coming off of an impressive campaign with the Tigers in 2023-24, but will be plying his trade in the US college ranks next season. Does anyone have any knowledge or a compiled list of players who have left the Canadian university ranks to play in the NCAA? I'm sure it's a pretty exclusive list. Perhaps it was a more prevalent occurrence in the 80s and 90s, but the more common trend would be recruits starting in the NCAA and then coming back to Canada to finish university.

Would love to get some info or hear some stories of players who have taken a similar journey.
