| Can anyone confirm if Bol Kong has decided to attend SFX as opposed to Gonzaga? |

....He asks so disdainfully..
I believe he meant St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, NS.
But you knew that already.
I know, courtside committed the egregious sin of abbreviating it to....argh...SFX instead of just X.
I made the same mistake myself several years ago when I first joined this discussion group, and was hastily reprimanded for that faux pas. |

geez and to think I was going to refer to that hotbed of drunkeness as the U of A.
University of Antigonish.
So back to the point...
Is Bol Kong, a potentially great player by the way, going to this quaint campus? |

| Bol is supposed to arrive at X today.I imagine X has their fingers crossed because Gonzaga hasn't given up on obtaining his visa yet so the next few days will tell all. I'm not sure what the rules are if a player practices with a team, can he still transfer without penalty or would he have to sit out the same as if he played a game? Anyone know? |

What a strange situation. This kid cannot seem to get his visa papers accepted. This has been going on for at least 2 years. Maybe more.
I think as long as he doesn't play a game he will not lose eligibility.
I'll tell you if SFX gets him a lot of BC Uni's are gonna be choked. Nice move though.
(Ok from now on I'll use the right abbreviation for EX) |

| Bol has been trying to get his papers since he made the BC U17 team so it has been going on for at least 5 years. |

Bol to X has been known by the BC unis for a while now, heres the reasons why from the outside
ubc- likely he couldnt get in as many cant
sfu- Scott Clark
Twu- sign a contract hmmm
Ufv- The only team that would have had a shot as he has buddys but apparently they dropped the ball
Why X, his high school coach went there and he had visited previouslly, only chance he doesnt play is if Gonzaga pulls rabbit out of the hat in short order |

Really a sad story. This kid shouldn't be getting caught up in the US post-9/11 hysteria.
BTW... why doesn't he have Canadian citizenship yet? He has been here long enough and that would have likely made his visa application easier. |

Ok, let's assume Bol will be playing at X this year.
Will he have an instant impact on X and the rest of the AUS?
Will X become the favourite to win it all, or at least, a co-favourite with Acadia? |

| Acadia loses a lot from last years team. Lual and Berry were fifth year players. Kraus transferred to brandon and Santana signed a pro contract. And Barry os gone too. However, Saintil is a pretty good starting point for any team. |

| X, SMU and Dal are going to be tough. Acadia, UPEI will be competitive, CBU, will make playoffs and UNB and MUN will be in the same spot as last year. |

I believe SMU has fairly significant losses too. Three starters are gone.Ross graduated and Morrison and Duncan are reportedly academic casualties.
Pete, if Kong plays at X, they would probably be the early favorites. He would be considered a better player than Toledo who went Div 1 in the hopes of getting recogniton from the NBA. X's other losses were bench players . |
