Regina at Lethbridge - This might be the toughest one but I just can't see Lethbridge losing at home LETHBRIDGE
Manitoba at UBC - Can it happen again? I would say NO - UBC
Saskatchewan at Calgary - Sask might sneak out one but CALGARY will take this one
UNBC at Alberta - Great job by UNBC picking up a road playoff win last week but ALBERTA will win this one easily

I was at the UBC vs Manitoba game tonight. It's a rematch of last year's playoffs for teams and venue, with Manitoba travelling to UBC as the underdog. Last year Manitoba beat UBC 2-0.

Today though, UBC won 106-74 and won each of the 4 quarters.

I came away from the game just as impressed with Coach Kirby Schepp and his ability to coach and run good actions, but Manitoba doesn't have the depth this year like they did last year. They really miss Keith Omoerah's defense and leadership, and AJ Basi's and Ilarion Bonhomme's shooting and ball handling. James Wagner is a heck of a player and did an okay job on Conor Morgan but Wagner was in foul trouble for the entire 2nd half and Conor was playing with confidence all game. It also doesn't help that Justus Alleyn starts off the game for something like 0-13 from the field.

Hopefully tomorrow is closer.

Lethbridge 115 Regina 68

I knew the Pronghorns were favoured going into this matchup, despite the fact the Cougars swept the season series in Regina.
But I didn't expect this 47 point evisceration.
Hope Regina plays better in Game 2...because it couldn't have been much worse.

It will be. Lethbridge has been vastly underated.

The Proghorns are a much superior team if Burdeaux is healthy. However, Regina needs to be cut some slack - sitting on a bus in Medicine Hat for 6 or 7 hours must not have been fun.

Do the Pronghorns depend on just one player? I doubt it. I do not understand why they fly under the radar so much.

Could be because they lost 8 of their last 12 league games after starting 8-0.

The results of the four series certainly show the very wide gap between the top four teams in Canada West this year and the rest of the conference. Only one of the eight games was highly contested - the rest over almost before they began. Next round should be a lot more interesting to watch.

Pronghorns have been one of the most fun teams to watch this year. Before the Burdeaux injury they were very one dimensional. After the injury Zac Overwater has been electric and Kyle Peterson had 30, 7 and 12 on Saturday night. IMO do not depend on one player.
